The Mom Life: Honor {Day19}

My little boy is learning the pledge to the American Flag.

Mommy: I pledge allegience…

Dom: to the flag

Mommy: of the united

Dom: states of America

Every few moments, I feed him a few more words and then he is able to continue his recitation.

He doesn’t understand what he saying. There are days I wonder if I truly know what I’m saying. But it’s one step towards honor.

Honor given to a symbol and for what it represents. Freedom.

We are blessed to live in this nation. Every day I see and hear the disgruntled comments of those who live in the same beautiful country that I do. It’s not perfect. I often fear the condition this nation will be in when my children are old enough to participate in such glorious things as voting. But we can vote. Our voice can be heard. We do have rights that were fought for long ago and continue to be fought for even today. We can choose to live honorable lives as a result of sacrifices made on our behalf.

This post is part of a 31 day movement. You can learn more about it here but the gist of it is that I take 5 minutes to write on a one word prompt that is provided following a theme that I have chosen. My theme is The Mom Life. So every post will center around my life and experiences as a mom and what comes to mind when I think about the prompt given. Hope you enjoy following my writing journey as much as I will love crafting the words.
