Well I have definitely found my way into the 2nd trimester and surprisingly I still haven’t fully made it to that honeymoon stage of pregnancy. Today for example I was extremely exhausted and had THE WORST headache. Oh and our house is semi-disastrous so I’d say the whole nesting thing hasn’t kicked in as of yet either. Oh well. It’s kind of like love, when it happens you know and it feels wonderful. Until then you wait and hope and do the best with where you are in the waiting.
Yesterday I went for my 2nd prenatal checkup. Apparently I get to pee in a cup each visit to see make sure no sugar or protein has leaked out of wherever it is supposed to stay. Glad to report the strip came back negative.
Then we met with one of my midwives. I weighed in. No. I’m not going to tell you how much I gained. Let’s just say I am well on my way to reaching the goal weight set before me.
Then she had me get on the examination table where she poked around on my abdomen. She even grabbed my hand to help me feel my growing uterus. It was pretty cool.
Then of course came the best part of the exam: Hearing. The. Heart. Beat.
Ironically, it was difficult to find but not for the reason you would think. Baby Parker is an active little guy/girl. We had absolutely no trouble picking up his/her action. I’m thinking the Baby is training for a triathlon right along with daddy : )
But when we finally caught our little athlete, the heartbeat was really strong. 160’s : )
So an awesome visit. I go back August 2nd and will be that much closer to knowing Baby Parker’s gender. I really can’t wait. We have a few ideas for names…can’t wait to be able to narrow down the list to just boy names or just girl names.
Baby Parker is now the size of a lemon.
And here I am in all my preggo glory.
Yeah. I know. You still can’t tell. Unfortunately everyone CAN tell that I am gaining weight and becoming rounder all around. I am really looking forward to the moment when the belly pops so those who don’t know me that well can stop thinking, “My goodness she’s gained weight!” It’s really funny but I know people who don’t know I’m preggo and that statement is all but plastered on their forehead. Oh well. The belly will swell in it’s timing.
Life is so stinkin BEAUTIFUL!
